MY NAME IS AHLAM

Directed by | Rima Essa

Genre documentary  |  Length: 74mins  |  Year of production: 2010

While fighting for her daughters right to receive adequate treatment for leukaemia, Aisha, a Palestinian woman living in the West Bank, undergoes a rapid process of empowerment. Suddenly, this embattled woman is no longer afraid to stand up not only to the occupiers hampering her movement and access to lifesaving medical services, but to the constraints of conservative family norms, to medical authorities themselves, and to anyone else who stands in the way of her daughters treatment. My Name is Ahlam, is a profoundly moving portrait of mother and daughter and an exploration of strength under enormous duress.
